BBC Preview:
Manchester United hope to have a full squad to choose from for their Champions League tie with Lille.
Goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar is in the Red Devils party but rookie Tom Heaton also travelled in case the Dutchman has not fully recovered from a broken nose.
Wayne Rooney is set for a recall after he was suspended for Saturday's FA Cup draw against Reading.
He could partner Henrik Larsson, whose last appearance in this competition was for Barcelona in the 2006 final.
The one minor hiccup to United's preparations is that the pitch at Lens' Stade Bollaert has been declared unfit to train on.
It means both United and Lille, who did not concede a goal in two meetings with Sir Alex Ferguson's men last season, will instead train at the Lens training ground at La Gayette.
Squad: Van der Sar, Kuszcak, Heaton, Neville, O'Shea, Ferdinand, Silvestre, Vidic, Evra, Heinze, Brown, Fletcher, Ronaldo, Scholes, Giggs, Carrick, Park, Richardson, Rooney, Saha, Smith, Larsson, Solskjaer.

We need to win the away match and seal our advance to the next round at OT. I can't say I'm 100% sure we're going to make short work of Lille but I certainly look forward to seeing a great performance by United. We need the lift ourselves up after the dissappointing FA Cup result.

I know we've had the group games but now we've finally got European football back to United. Adam's XIVan Der Sar
Neville - Ferdinand - Vidic - Evra
Ronaldo - Scholes - Carrick - Giggs
Rooney
Saha I really hope we don't play a 4-5-1 with Giggs supporting the striker and Rooney wide it pisses me off that does. We should win this one though, I'm going for 3-1 United.

i think if we get any sort of draw in France then that will be a great result and when we bring them back to old trafford i cant see them causing us many problems as Vidic and Rio have been solid at the back

A draw would be disapponting. A goaless draw would be a disaster. If we going to do any good we've got to be convincing against teams like Lille and score a couple of goals. Got to be a United win. Larsson and Rooney to Score ( may be one from Vidic also!)

I wouldnt exacly call a goalless draw a disater. That would put us in a commanding position. Our away record is terrible lately even if it is 'only' Lille. Im going to go for a 1-1 draw. I hope im wrong and we get a 2-0. That would be one foot in the quarters. Anybody going to France tommorrow?

If its goaless and they come to Old Trafford put everyone in defence and sneak a flukey goal it would be!!! or its 1-1 and they go through on away goals .

Still keeping the faith. Though I said it would be a disaster, i don't believe for a minute it will happen.
Always optomistic me and as posted earlier can see us getting atleast 2 goals.
Apologies if it came over as doom and gloom. #cheers#

Totally agree VR, we should be trouncing teams like this!! The game's not on tv, so I'll be checking progress on here. 1 - 3 is my prediction, which would make me a very happy vegemite!

I really hope we play with two strikers and attack as we have done all this season. Do not revert to a "european/defensively orientated" style of play. Stick to our guns and we should be able to put a few in their net.
Sir Alex Ferguson has dismissed claims United will be motivated by revenge going into the Champions League clash with Lille.
The French side took four points off United in two irascible Group D encounters last season, games marred by 11 bookings.
Paul Scholes garnered two and was sent off in a goalless draw at Old Trafford, a game which saw Ryan Giggs sustain a broken cheekbone after a clash with Stathis Tavlaridis.
Former Reds striker Ruud van Nistelrooy was also involved in a scuffle with Tavlaridis after the return game in France, but Sir Alex is playing down talk of settling old scores.
"I don’t think that comes into it," he said. "I’m pleased with the form of the team. Last year was down to a combination of things."
United took to the second game, at the Stade de France, shorn of the injured Giggs and suspended Scholes, just four days after a dismal 4-1 mauling at Middlesbrough.
Sir Alex admitted: "We went into the Lille game in Paris with a far too inexperienced team with too many young players in it.
"There was a definite confidence failure in the team at the time. When you play young players, it’s always better to play them in a confident team. You get a far better performance level from them because everyone around them knows what they’re doing.
"When you play them in situations like we did over in Paris, it was asking a lot for us to get a result in that game."
Last season's disappointing campaign, which saw United crash out of Europe entirely after finishing bottom of a seemingly navigable group, still irks the Gaffer, as does the previous campaign's narrow second round exit to AC Milan.
"We’re disappointed by the last two years without question, we should be doing better," he said. "I’ve said that time and time again. Some years we’ve been very unlucky, but in other years we’ve not done as well as we should have done.
"That’s the challenge of European football, to get that consistency in Europe. You could say we’ve had consistency up until the last two years in terms of getting to the quarter finals and beyond every year, but we certainly should have done better in the last two years.
"That’s symptomatic of the fact that we’ve been rebuilding the team, and when you’re doing that you need courage and patience. And I think we’ve shown that.
"It bothers me we didn’t get further, we should have done. But there’s no point in looking back when the progress and promise we see in front of us is so encouraging.
