I'm surprised there wasn't a topic for this sooner. No point in any changes away from our first team. We just have to go for it, and at the very least get an away goal.
1-0 United is my prediction.

Saha or Larsson? Van Der Sar or Kusczcack? Hopefully VDS. I think it'll be Larsson as he didn't play at the weekend and his performances in Europe for Barca should scare Lille to forgetting about Rooney somewhat. Don't really rememeber the last games against Lille, they aren't playing at home though, the games been moved i think, might eb a slight advantage. Makoun has been mentioned as one to look out for, don't remember him either I think Ronaldo will have a top game here, it seems about time, after his holiday he's had time to get some rythm and this is his stage. Rooney will come good in Europe soon, maybe the return leg at OT. 2-1 win

i'd say 1 - 0 to United ... spoke to a friend of mine who supports PSG and another one who support Marseille...they've both told me Lille aren't on top form and think we should trash them... anyways i watched their game vs Lyon on friday, they looked rubbish (wasn't the full team though ) ... i think we should have no problems against them , not unless something stupid happens ... Common United

Common United Cup competitions aren't about league form, Lille always seem to hit rough patches in the league when the champions league starts up, or is it just me? If you watched a game vs. Lyon, i'd expect Lille to look rubbish against the likes of them with the way they've dominated recently, so no suprises there. Gives Lille incentive to get back on track against United, they've had more time to prepare as well. Apparently the Lille coach is asking Wenger's advice!

I read the report of the Lille vs Lyon game and it said Lyon didn't create much and were quite lucky with the two late goals they got to come back and win 2-1, obviously without watching the game I don't know what Lille were like but if they were able to limit a creative team like Lyon then I wouldn't expect many chances for us on tuesday and I'd be more than happy with a narrow win and a decent away performance in europe for a change

I dunno about their form but since we just got our asses handed to us in the Cup, I think that we'll be looking to make a statement and this would be the perfect time to do that. It is the CL non the less and anything is possible still. But my confidence in the team is high and I am gonna root for a 2-0 win. C'mon You Reds!!!

I'd like Larsson to start, he's great at making those unselfish passes to get the goal. The one thing that's been dissappointing about Saha is that he makes great runs but doesn't finish well and had the opportunity to pass to open players.

Yeh after Saha's two poor matches, I'm pretty sure Larsson will start. I also hope that VDS is available again because I don't feel particulary confident with Kuszchak.

Van Der Sar Ready For LilleEdwin van der Sar has told skysports.com that Manchester United have all the motivation they need to progress in the UEFA Champions League. Europe's elite club competition resumes in midweek, with United facing Lille in the first leg of a last 16 encounter on Tuesday. Last season, The Red Devils met the French side in the group phase, but were held 0-0 at home before losing 1-0 away. Though Van der Sar accepts the Premiership leaders have a better chance of winning the domestic league, he is determined to advance in Europe. "The possibility of winning the Champions League is a bit smaller than winning the league," Van der Sar told skysports.com. "We'll do our best. "We lost against them last year, so it is a good motivation to win this year." Van der Sar expects Sir Alex Ferguson to have United fully prepared for the game, but the keeper is wary of the threat posed by Lille. He added: "They are still not a very well-known team, so we have to be careful of that. "We have to play our game and make sure we get the result we want. "Sometimes it's better playing Milan or something than another team that is less well-known and you maybe don't know all the players. "I'm sure the manager and Carlos (Queiroz) are going to prepare to the very best and capabilities to inform the players about tactics and the strong points of the opposite team." Van der Sar is hoping to be fit for Tuesday's game after missing United's last two matches with a broken nose suffered in the 4-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur.

lille's goalkeeper is not that good at all i have seen 3-4 of their matches and scholes and co. can score goal with longshots and i think united will win 2-0 and the away goals for united would be perfect

I can't wait for this game, as it is my first European away game. I'd be happy with a 1-0 or 2-0.
