It's hard to slam our own players, but i do hope Fergie lets them know that effort is unacceptable. Iv always liked Fletcher, he's a decent passer of the ball and works hard and i loved his tackles when we played Liverpool at OT earlier this season. O'Shea has never played better than his first season where he played at LB, but again i like him in the squad. Richardson is another matter. He showed real potential a few years back, attitude and poor performances have led me to think he should go. This was the sort of game where he should try and dominate, but he didnt.
Twas a great start, w/ class finishes from Saha and Ole but in hindsight, thank frigging god we did get the head start!
Positives: played a very weakened team w/out maybe 8-9 regular starters, won w/out injuries or suspensions, Saha scored, and we march on in the FA cup.

Well we knew that would be a tough game, what i didn't expect was that that toughness would be all our own doing. Kudos to Reading for the comeback, they played really well considering their start but some of the Utd players should really be hanging their heads in shame.

looks like i'm lucky that i had school and missed the second half...from what ya'll are saying, it sounds like it was absolutely dismal...i dint watch, so obviously i cant critique the performance...but i will say that richardson has to go. 1 average performance out of 20 does not a manchester united player make. shame...i thought he had loads of potential.
and i know ppl blast oshea when he plays in midfield..but i think it's just because he's not a natural midfielder. his original position is defender...and i actually think he's a pretty good one. its the same as playing rooney on the left or smith in centre midfield...it just doesnt really work...unfortunately for him, we've got a solid back four that i cant see him breaking into...and he has to settle for being played out of position. so i say keep fletch and oshea...cos they're good squad players...and get rid of richardson...cos he's just shitty.
well...we move into the next round where we will hopefully put on a better performance(WE BETTER) and now...we prepare for the scousers.

I think the one thing that has become obvious from this match is, if we suffer a sudden injury mania, are these squad players going to be able to pull their finger out and perform when surrounded by other squad players? and equally can our first teamers still pull a good performance when playing with squad players? RIo sure as hell didn't look capable of that yesterday, the only part of the team I'm completely happy with is the attack and Van Der Sar.
I really hope we don't encounter a lot of injuries, because the players we have for back up are not good enough to be first team material. Sadly a lot of the time because they just can't be fucked.

BULIWF U were right.. i guess that got me a dive hehe... anyways good first 6 minutes...never expected to lose my voice in those 6 minutes..the remainder of the game was just getting me more and more frustrated with some players...particularly Fletcher and Kieran ... really annoyed the shit out of me... VDS has been on top form lately.....Good to see Saha back on form and confident, hopefully he'll start against liverpool...

Fergie: A magnificen cup tieREDS boss Alex Ferguson believes United were lucky to survive the fifth round FA Cup replay when Reading fought back after going three goals down. A quarter-final trip to Middlesbrough now awaits, although before that United face a crucial Premiership encounter at Liverpool, when many pundits believe victory will effectively clinch the championship. However, Ferguson knows his side will have to defend far more effectively than they did at Reading. "We had fantastic chances to kill the game but we kept running with the ball and on a pitch like that it just doesn't work," he said. "We kept giving them lifeline after lifeline and when they scored a second with six or seven minutes to go anything could have happened. "In the end, we managed to ride our luck and we have come through a magnificent cup tie." Royals manager Steve Coppell claimed there was 'honour in defeat' for Reading tonight after losing to at the Madejski Stadium. "It is not often you say there can be honour in defeat but that is the position we are in tonight," said Coppell. "I have to compliment my players. They are all warriors. They didn't lay down and die, they got back up again and fought, which is one of the best qualities to have."
Matches like yesterday is what convinces me I will die watching the game we all love.

I've already accepted that's how I'm going to go lol. I've had a nosebleed from watching them before, so it's only a matter of time before the embolism kicks in.

Man, the Lille match best be a cracking match since I didn't see yesterday's match so I can take time next week to see us against Lille.
as for the squad players, it's a shame I can't feel more confident in them but they just haven't earned having faith in their abilities because they turned a comfortable lead into a nail bitter in the 90th minute. I saw the match late last night and thought Reading were great since they stuck in there to keep us on our toes. Fortunately for us that shot late in the game hit the crossbar otherwise we would have been in for it because getting a goal would have been tough.

Well played to Reading, i cant help but feel maybe our 3 early goals were a mixed blessing. The team sat back and got too complacent. Reading never deserved to win it, if only we'd actually managed to get a pass in on one of our 3on3 situations and it woulda have looked a lot more comfortable results.
Two objectives succeeded though - Get through to the next round and get most of squad players a 90 minute run out.

I think it was a case of us going 3 nil up and then the cigars came out. The players were there but their minds were at home or down the pub and Reading played out of their skins. It's really hard to comment on the performaance, we looked pretty terrible, but at the same time still looked dangerous, and if it wasn't for players either being selfish or just not looking up we could have scored alot more on teh counter. Saha's performance was encouraging. But moments of brilliance were matchd by moments of silliness. Ole though WHAT A FINISH He wasn't even looking at the goal.

Apart from the goals and the result what most impressed me was the great support our travelling fans gave.
Great singing through out the match. Really wished I'd been part of it. We salute you!. #worship# #worship# #worship# #worship# #worship#

Ole though WHAT A FINISH He wasn't even looking at the goal. Ole looked on as if he was against a 2 foot tall keeper without any hands! What a goal it was...pure class I say!!

We salute you!. #worship# #worship# #worship# #worship# #worship# Yeah it sounded great on TV. They were proper uncomfortable in the BBC studio. 'Alan Hansen is a wanker, is a wanker. Alan Hansen is a wanker is a wanker' and the Alan Shearer song. Ian Wright decided to make note of this at the end saying 'I just like the singing'. Uncomfortable silence or what. Well done United fans #thumb# #thumb# #thumb# #thumb#
