I feel its time for Tevez to shine. Away from the frenetic pace of the premiership , give him time on the ball at your peril.

Will Rooney be playing, what do you think?

SAF has said Rooney will be playing, but hasn't decided about him being an opener or sub. Personally would like to see him start, and at half time assess how he's doing/feeling and make a decision then. Great to have him back though

I'd like to see Fergie play 442 with Giggs on the wing. He's a great player in his correct position but putting Giggsy up front, behind Tevez just doesn't work. I'd like to see:
VDS Brown, Rio, Vidic, Evra Ronaldo, Carrick, Scholes, Giggs Tevez Saha
With Rooney coming on at half time. He's been out for a while so I'm not sure he could manage a full game, though it might be wise to start Rooney, then if he doesn't play well he can be subbed at half time if we do need to make a comeback

Really hope Wazza plays some part. He needs to be match fit before Chelsea. As long as Owen is fit for Chelsea, I'm not to bothered seeing him not play, even though of course I'd rather have him in there.
My line up:
VDS
Brown Rio Vidic Evra
Ronaldo Carrick Scholes Nani
Tevez Saha

SAF has not played a 442 away from home for ages and I dont expect him to start now. I would love it but he wont do it.

With Hargo out, I expect a Scholes-Carrick partnership. Pity 'bout Fletch and O'Shea.
Although, the positive from this is that Fergie really can't play a 4-3-3. But I'm sure he'll find a way, no one give him ideas!
Saha should get a start so that he's match fit for Chavski, with Rooney getting a go off the bench. Tevez playing with a striker will only improve performances and he should get some more time in this match.
Back four should stay the same.

Our away record in the Champions League is pretty crap to say the least; not as bad as Celtic's though! SAF likes to play 4-5-1 away from home, but I think he will go with 4-4-2 tonight, with Saha and Tevez up front. Rooney will most likely replace Tevez in the 2nd half when we're 3-0 up!! Sporting will certainly be up for this game as two of their 'prodigal sons' are returning for the first time. I expect there to be goals at both ends. I'll be happy with 2-1 to United.

From Sky Sports:
Sporting striker Liedson is a fan of Nani, but is hoping the Portuguese side can shut out the young winger.
"I believe that Nani will play with some pressure for his European debut (for United) in the Alvalade," Liedson told skysports.com. "That is a little advantage for us.
"We know how it is possible to stop Nani.
"Sporting know Nani and we warn our old team-mate that it will not be easy for him to have a big match in Lisbon.
"Until the match he is our friend, but from the first minute until the end, he is our rival."
Liedson believes another former Sporting starlet could hold the key to deciding the outcome of the Group F opener.
The Brazilian added: "The real danger for United is Cristiano Ronaldo. Today, he is a player who is very difficult to stop on the pitch.
"We only hope that this Wednesday the Portuguese is not at his usual level.
"Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best players in the world and Nani will also be one in a few years."

I like this team:
VDS
Wes, Rio, Vida, Evra
Ron, Carrick, Scholsey, Giggs Tevez Saha
but would like to see Nani and Rooney come on to change it a bit if drawing at half time.
#clap# Bring it on. #clap#
I see a great night for United.
Should be interesting to see how mixing the striker combinations works.
I really hope we go for it big time tonight!

The kick-off according to Sky Sports and BBC Sport is 7:45, but is this british time? I would guess so since that's the usual champs league time, but Sky Sports are starting their coverage at 6pm. So i can't help worrying that its 6:45 for us and i'll miss the first half!
