Not exactly the game I would jump up and down for, esp. on seeing a poor first half. But another gritty 1-0 win thanks to two super saves from VDS and of course that boy Ronaldo. Loved his rather apologetic goal celebration in front of Sporting fans, but hey that and his play was enough to warrant a deserved standing ovation from the entire stadium on being subbed. I must say, Sporting players are really skinny and our defence took care of them well. Though we need to control the game and dictate the pace more often. But hey an away win will do for me ;D

Not the greatest match in the world, but we got a goal, kept a clean sheet thanks to a brilliant van der sar AND got all three points on a very very tough away pitch. I was expecting a draw today at best, both before the match started and during it, so I am more than happy. However I am hoping this gives us the confidence to start playing football, and show Chelsea how the game is supposed to be played come Sunday.
Thought Ronaldo's celebration was very humble, and I'm really pleased for the ovation he got off the Lisbon fans, you could tell it meant a lot to the lad.

Great result. Cracking saves from Edwin. Top drawer. Clearly MOTM. I'm more than happy with the 1-0. Our passing and movement was great. If we play like that on Sunday, Chelsea will struggle.
1-0 to the Fergie boys.

Ronaldo's interview has shown how much the lad is maturing and so quickly too, so glad they gave him a standing ovation. He deserved it and I take my hat off to them because most fans wouldn't have done that, let's be honest.
As for the game, Van Der Sar and Ronaldo stood out. Van Der Sar kept the clean sheet with some fantastic saves and Ronaldo looked like the only one who would score, deservedly getting the goal after a fantastic team move.
Don't know what Fergie said at the break but it certaintly worked, the match reminded me of the Benfica game last season and let's hope we build on this now and gain more confidence for away trips in Europe.
Good start to the campaign, let's keep the ball rolling into the league season and beat Chelsea. Four one-nil wins on the run, I'd definitely take another on Sunday!

Decent performance nothing really special and at times it looked like both teams would be happy with the draw. Ronaldo really did well the last 30 mintues or so and show great determenation to score that goal.
VDS had 3-4 brilliant saves and it looks like hes back to his best now after a rocky ending last season which is great for us.
I dont know why Fergie started and then left Giggs in for so long. He didnt do a damn thing tonight and I dont think he deserves to start against Chelsea

Last season took a lot out of both of em.

Good result. Ronaldo and VDS MOTM for me. Special mention to Carrick and its taken forever but finally Wes crossed the ball. Yeah. Giggs has experience and thats why he started.

Ronaldo and VDS were fantastic but I think Vidic and Brown also deserve some good words... On the other side, Nani was playing awfully for me... I mean he was very selfish... we could have won 0:2 if he passed it few times... Besides that, I liked the match... hope you too

Great job for VDS and Ronnie! #clap# True, not the best game, but we did ok. What's going on with Giggs, anyway?

Giggsy just look knackered, he needs to be rested. Scholesy still looks tired too. Last season took a lot out of both of em. Giggs had 3 weeks off. He played against Spurs, didnt appear for against Sunderland and then there was the international break. I moaned at my Dad for Giggs playing, he said give him a chance, I kept looking at my Dad when he did something wrong (most of the time) and he didn't say anything to me once. He didnt make one pass tonight and I think that's a fact, I was watching his every move, I want to find out his stats 'cos I don't actually believe he completed a pass! I love the man but he is frustrating and playing him more isn't doing him any good, he's getting worse!

Giggs needs to realize his place in the team is slowly fading away. I'd say fergie should drop him for a game or 2.. it'll only spur him on to do better !
As for the game, we were good at times, though i thought the pitch was TOO difficult to play on, but thankfully we won. Ronaldo doing the business and that celebration and the ovation ( WELL DONE ! ) ...VDS saved us ! all in all, a tough away, and we did well to win !
