I had a lump in my throat when making way out of OT. Everyone so was sullen and all you needed to do was make eye contact and you could tell how they were feeling.

Oh, and what were those loud bangs during the silence, which fair play to City fans, was impeccable! Someone letting off fireworks. Rumours are it was some City fan/s which does sound the most likely reason for someone to do it halfway through the silence.

10 years on from 1958 in 1968 United became the first english club to win the champions league . Around 20 years on in 1977 united won the fa cup and more impotantly to a lot of younger fans here stopped liverpool winning the first treble. 40 years on in the 1998-1999 season on the 90th birthday of Sir Matt Busby something special happened a moment all united fans will talk about and exchange stories of where they were when ole's strike found the net. I hope that the defeat against city will spur the lads on to similar glories so that we can say 50 years on a team was able to honour the Busby Babes in a glorious and triumphant way.

These are times I wish Neville was on the field. Me too But let's just get this match behind us, at least we (and Fergie, Quieroz and the players) learned something from it.

I didn't go to the game yesterday. I was just wondering does anyone know what the noise was outside the ground whilst the minute silence was being observed. the commentator on sky reckons it was rockets?
it sounded to me like fireworks but i don't know what it was
Fireworks. Some people in the Stretford end said they could see them. Not sure who let them off but the feelings are it was City fans.
it could be two things united fans who couldn't get in doing a final salute thing or more likely city fans trying to disrupt the silence as far as we are concerend the city fans in old trafford respected the silence.

I could see them. They were let off in the middle behind the south stand. Possible from the street directly behind the rail track.

Where was our manager? Why was SAF so silent and quiet in his seat? Maybe the television didn't show it, but I would have expected him to be leaping about with smoke coming out of his ears by the 30 minute mark.
Where was our captain? We needed a Keano, delivering bollockings all over the pitch.

We could have really done with that yesterday, and maybe not just yesterday. As much as I love Giggsy, and I do, he's not a brilliant captain, it's not in him.

Was absolutely crushed by this match, come off work early an risked gettin sacked 2 get a seat but i didn't care, this was 1 match i was watching! Why did people buy 5 and 10 programmes, the stands had sold out and i thought it was a bit selfish of people. I was thinking that myself, where was Fergie he didn't seem 2 b making much input, minutes silence was amazing tho! never seen anything like it, it was bluenoses setting fireworks off outside the south stand, theres always someone hu ruins it isnt there. Thought Giggsy had a bad game, along with Scholesy and Rio but then again, none of our players had a stormin game

I guess we'll wait a while for any sort of explanation from the Boss. He's gone off to South Africa to promote the summer tour there.

Ryan Giggs admits Manchester City deserved their 2-1 derby victory at Old Trafford on Sunday.
First-half goals from Darius Vassell and Benjani Mwaruwari were enough for City to dent United's Premier League title aspirations as the Red Devils could only hit a late consolation through Michael Carrick.
And Giggs admits United were not up to the task as they slumped to their first double league defeat to City since 1970.
"It was probably the result that City deserved really," Giggs told United's official website. "They played better than us.
"City scored at important times in the game and we didn't recover. City could just sit back then and try to catch us on the counter attack.
Motivation
"Defensively we didn't play well. Attacking-wise, we just didn't turn up.
"But there was enough motivation for us - a massive game for the club, a derby and an important three points."
And Giggs confesses that United cannot afford any more slip-ups as they battle with league leaders Arsenal and Chelsea in the race for the top flight's silverware.
"We probably can't afford to drop any more points now. We've got to make sure we don't produce any more performances like that," Giggs continued.
"We just didn't perform as a team, and individuals, like we have been doing this season and like we are capable of," the Welsh winger added on Sky Sports News. "It's disappointing on a lot of fronts."

You can't win them all, but if you have the basics which Fergie has stuck to over the years such as a battler of a captain and different but top strikers by the start of every season, it certainly helps. After all of United's losses since Nev's been out, you look at them and think if we had a proper captain out there... and, why are there no strikers on the bench.. Ferguson's corrected one problem in the midfield with Hargreaves and Anderson, why he isn't doing the other blatant things, i don't know. Also, Carlos goes on about the internationals, but just as Wenger said before, it was them who flew the players out to Saudi Arabia when they had the advantage of some time off and hard training before a crucial period. Could it be that biting us in the bum? Could that come hand in hand with the rumors of Fergie flying away to promote the summer tour after the game. If you see where i'm headed. Ferguson talks about resting Ronaldo, couldn't he have done that in the Saudi week? Or did promotional responsibilities quite simply come first
