Job done I suppose but i'd prefer not to see that particular line up again, especially at home. Yeah it battered Arsenal a few weeks ago but was pretty ordinary tonight. Tevez made a real difference when he came on and Rooney came into it a bit more when Carlos came on.

Well i was watching the arsenal game on tv and the united match on my computer cause it was only on on stream. Really gutted, i wanted a confidence blow to le arse, but milan were nothing like the team that won it last year, Kaka has gone from goodie goodie Gods servant, to pissed off pouting about, yelling at the refs (who i thought were shite in both matches) and throwing the ball around... when he didnt win a throw in.
As for our game, really wanted them to put a few more past lyon, but lyon never looked like scoring and i felt were playing a bit dirty. Ronnie took a few more knocks then he normally does, and there were a couple of elbows here and there. Dont know what Rio was yelling at Nani about after the game? Great for Ronaldo to get the 30th, hopefully they continue to pour in.
EDIT: Rooney is playing too far forward, he wont score as many as he did last year in that position, hes not a tall player so i dont know why hes sitting off waiting to try and win long passes forward.

People saying Lyon never looked like scoring, did you miss the bit where they hit the post?

Got the job done, we'll probably see more of those 1-0s as the season gets to its climax.
Well done to Ronnie, 30/30 goals/games. Incredible. Simple as that
I wondered about the Nani Rio thing, thought Nani was alright tonight. Tevez did well when he came on and we could have had a few really.
When is the draw BTW?

Glad to be through but we really should have put at least one more in the net
Just dominated the game today and really deserved a comfortable ending.
Is Rooney gonna learn to finish a 1 v 1 anytime soon?

Disappointed with the selection but hey, we're through so I'm ecstatic. Why neither Tevez nor Hargreaves started I do not understand. 4-4-2 . Nothing else!
We were quite good in the first half, and I was so thrilled when Ronny turned it home. 30 goals in 30 games. What more can you say.
Not too impressed with our second half performance, and was as nervous as you can get toward the end, but the final whistle blew and we survived!
FOLLOW! FOLLOW! FOLLOW! CAUSE UNITED ARE GOING TO MOSCOW!

I enjoyed the first half - some lovely crisp passing and we dominated possession for the most part. The second half, we seemed to take the foot off the pedal and I got very nervous.
Yeah, I noticed Rio had a bug up his ass about Nani for some reason. I'd like to know what that was about.

Lyon were getting a lot of change out of the full back Grosso overlapping in the 2nd half until Nani switched over and really helped Wes. I don't know what Ferdinand was going on about. Nani did really well defensively for us tonight.

Taking a leaf from the commentator's vocabulary i'll describe that game as 'intriguing' and 'fascinating', i.e. it was fucking boring.
A poor game, a poor performance, against a poor team. Hope we come up against another poor side in the next round because we are not improving in Europe and will lose against a side tactically more astute, even if we have better players than them. We are still playing a game that doesn't suit us and it will never win us the champions league.
