sometimes I feel like throttling fergie, his tactics stunk tonight and his team selection also. We showed lyon so much respect that it was embarassing. We have only seen united play for 20 minutes in this tie really. Sometimes I would prefer we were behind because you only see what uniteds made of when we are behind. Carrick and fletcher in midfield was a terrible decision particularly for a match like that.

Clean sheet and a decisive victory ;D 1-0 UNITED #unitedbanner# #devilbanana# #clap# #yahoo# #pissed# HELL NO...1-0 means im on the edge of my seat worrying about Lyon getting a goal and making it go beyond 90 min Aye it was a hard game to spectate at times....frustrating, we should have killed them off with the chances we made. I'm with Carbon on this one we should play 4-4-2 at home. Make other teams play to our tune. But we are though to the next round. Anyone catch Le Arse fans singing 'are you watching manchester' ?

What the hell was wrong with us in the second half ?? Throwing away possession, horrible passing from our forwards at times in front of our own goal ?! Sir Alex needs to give the lads a bollocking as well despite the win. Had this been a Barcelona, they would have buried at least 1 goal past us. But thankfully it was only the moaning Lyon side

Fletcher only really came into it in the second half with Lyon pressing/ Anderson evaporated in the second half. An ugly win....but a win non the less. i dont think we showed Lyon too much respect...some of our play was awesome and Lyon deserve respect they are a very capable team, I just think it was the wrong formation. 4-4-2 for me.

I was shouting for subs well before he made them. Fergie still wants the FA cup as well and he has supreme confidence in the squad. Portsmouth at home. I hope thats a more emphatic win....

We might not have played amazingly well, but we are through which is the most important thing. Just like Lille at home last season, I felt it was always gonna be a tight affair. We got the win, and lets hope for an easier tie in the next round. On a seperate note, Im a bit gutted as I betted on the first goal being scored between 31 and 40 minutes. Ronaldos goal was on the 41st.

Poor game really one of our worst game of the season. My man tonight is Carrick he did a good job in the midfield.
I didn't liked it Ronaldo -even tho he scored-and rooney u could have seen they were tired.

I only saw the second half, I thought fletch did pretty well worked his socks off at times. I think Fergie should have brought in Hargreaves earlier.

Thought it was a pretty naff display quite frankly, but hey, a win is a win and we are through! What was with the formation, don't think SAF got that quite right We missed the chance to batter Lyon and lay down a marker to the rest though, which is disappointing.

Honestly, a very boring game. I Hate the 4-5-1 formation. It doesn't worked, AGAIN! Rooney never (or almost never) plays well as a 'sole striker'. The things changed when he played alongside Tevez (He should be started).
But we win, and this is the important thing

Ive posted this site a couple times now, its great, updates with videos same day as the match, usually within an hour or two. Is there anywhere where we can share this site better. www.tvgolo.com/football.phpit has highlights from every major league and covers every game, its amazing. ALSO: the commentator said it was ronnies 30th goal in 30 games, wow

Fergie's going to have to shake his fear of European teams because I agree that he gives them too much respect. We have loads of great players and when they're unleashed we've seen what they can do, and it was evident today early on when we kept going at Lyon. The second half was a bit disappointing and I had that sinking feeling that a Lyon goal would come from somewhere because we took our foot off the gas. If he continues to be this cautious in Europe it will cost us in the end. Well done though because we're through to the next round and I can't say there's much to complain about that! #yahoo# Oh and as for the Arsenal fans, they did well to get past Milan but they shouldn't get too carried away because the 4-0 dismantling of Arsenal in the FA Cup isn't too distant a memory so I wouldn't be tempting fate if I were them.

This game is absolutely shite. I can't go for a while event to look at my daughter this morning and I'm sleepy like hell at the office. We give Lyon to much!!! But one thing for sure, me & my friend prediction about our formation were scrap by SAF

why tevez did not start i will never know? we should have got some goals before going 4-5-1, we need to play our game and think less about the european tactics thing, fergie has the players for it

Not pleasant viewing; my wife was not impressed with my language! The likes of Ronaldo, Rooney, and Rio were not at the races, but you could blame the formation and lack of drive for that. Why do we play this shite 4-5-1 formation at home?! Fair play to Lyon to getting stuck in and giving us a game. Perhaps some of the players feel that it is our right to win these sort of games at OT, and therefore do not put the effort in? Anyway, a win is a win. It looks like an English and Spanish 1/4 Final line-up to me; how about beating Arse, Chavs, and Dippers en-route to lifting the CUP!?!
