I think Rossi may go on loan and get sporadic first team appearances for us while Ruud sees out his contract at OT. Following Ruud's departure Rossi will come to the front and become a first team player forming a strike force of Torres, Rooney, Rossi & Saha!

Yeah good post mate ^^ If Torres comes in that will be the end for Ruud, I don't care what any paper says "Fergie wants to play with Rooney Torres and Nistelrooy upfront" LOL FUCK OFF! Nistelrooy can't even get a game over Saha, now all of a sudden everythings changed and Fiergie wants to play 433 again? lol It must have been Ruud electric perfomance for Holland that swayed it for him!

www.teamtalk.comThere's no need for disrespecting Ruud like that, but I do think he has a future at United. a 4-2-1-2-1 would be a worthwhile formation if of course we signed Carrick, Diarra, Riquelmé and Torres. Which is possible, except maybe Diarra but you never know.

Not disrespecting, just being honest! As much as Fergie loves his strikers, I can't see us keeping Ruud along with Rooney Saha AND Rossi breaking into the first team if we sign Torres. Anyways, Torres is having a good game here, looks pacey powerfull, and can run past players, he would be as good a replacement for Ruud as any really, and if were looking to sell RVN for 15 mil then 25 wouldn't be that expensive!

rumours in the itmes today were that we were nearing completion of Carricks transfer here with a proposed £14 mil, and apprently close to agreeing a SIMILAR fee for Diarra. So it suggests anything less than £20mil for Diarra. That would mean that we are soending a total of around £32mil just on two players, and so i doubt the Torres one is true unless Ruud moves. You really don't think he will bring in another striker and not get rid of one, considering we have Rossi and numerous others coming up the ranks. Yeah, there's just too much speculation...Torres would be interesting but I'm more concerned for our midfield and options for replacing our older players. Huntlaar would be a great replacement for Ruud if he goes, but I don't think Torres would be a bad signing as he's young and has good pace.

U r having alaugh, we would sign two midifelders and a striker at the absolute most, but 3 would be wasteful considering we have midifelders such as the Jones (no relation) coming through, along with Park Ronaldo, Scholes, and Giggs, though the altter two may play an increasingly peripheral role, three midifielders, all first eleven contenders would not only be very expensive, but may create tensions due to the disitinct lack of oppurtunities they would get. Rumours are string that we are signing Carrick, which means that perhaps Riqelme is ot of the question as they are not likely to make a ery stronmg partnership for defensive cover, hence the signing of Diarra instead. Torres coming depends on Ruud going. I;m still hopnig we cans trike a swap deal for silvestre + cash for Diarra. Either way, has anyone been watching tores play - he looks superb, he certainly is strong, not my intial thoughts, as i didnt think he had enough strength to adapt to football here. More importantly people complain that he only scred 13 goals last season, but he brings soooo much to the team, and that was playing for a distinctly average team. Although we get a guaranteed 20+ goals from Ruud, we get few from others. IF we have someone like Torres, hescores 15+ along with creating several chances for everyone else to chip in - so the team status quo is more balanced!

Spain's Torres Rumoured To Have Agreed Terms With Manchester United - Set To Partner Rooney Up-Front Submitted by Scott Harkness on Wed, 14/06/2006 - 14:02.
Manchester United are heavily rumoured to have agreed personal terms with Spain striker Fernando Torres for a move from Spanish Primera Liga side Atlético Madrid after the World Cup Finals.
The club are also willing to sell the talented La Furia Roja star, who Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson sees as the perfect replacement for Ruud van Nistelrooy, who is expected to be sold after the Finals.
Torres is certain to be leaving Atlético in the summer and there has also been long-term interest from Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, but now it seems that he has opted for a move to Manchester. He is reported to be looking for a house, either in the city centre, or just outside the city.
The signing of Torres would see him in a striking partnership with England’s Wayne Rooney, a decent pairing indeed.
The article from the link i posted few posts up. As said no idea how reliable.

if what Torres contributes in creating chances compensates for his lower goal count then it still benefits us, though whether he adapts to the Prem is another thing because it will be a rude awakening coming from La Liga...

From Football Issue:
Torres aware of Man United interest Atletico Madrid and Spain striker Fernando Torres is aware of the interest from Manchester United. United have been linked with a £20 million move for the striker.
’I know the rumours about my future are strong now. I think it is because there is a World Cup coming up when people are always thinking about big transfer.’
’I've lived through these rumours a thousand times in the last five years and they won't affect me. I am trying to focus on the World Cup which is my biggest priority right now.’

Anyone happen to listen to Talk sport during the Spain game, apparently this is what was said:
"I think it was that Balauge guy. They interviewed him before the match and he made it clear that Torres will be signing for us. The radio station was Talk Sport 10.89, whole way through the game the commentators were making comments such as: ''this is what Manchester United will be getting'' and after he scored, they said: ''it was top class finish by Torres, who will be joining Manchester United for 25m''. The last time I heard a big story on that radio station concerning United was during Euro 2004, they were the first to mention that Wayne Rooney would be joining United.
Please remember that i'm not the one making these comments, it's what I heard from that sourse and like the rest of you, I don't have a clue whether there's any truth in it or not. So far, Atletico and United haven't confirmed or denied it, so the waiting game continues."
I never listen to talk sport so I wouldn't have a clue.
