any of you match goers read the program notes from yesterday? Fergie talking about moving big players on? was this a lil kick up the backside for waz? was listeneing to neil custis from the sun shitepaper on talksport last night. they touched on his thoughts on the sunday suppo this morning and all. he reckons fergie is tired of rooney's smoking and drinking and his fat arse, and that Rooney's career is at a cross roads. yeah i know we've heard it all before.
all i'll say is rooneys reaction is key here. injury aside, if he reacts as we'd hope to the prospect of ACTUALLY BEING IN COMPETITION for a place for probably the first time in his life then his focus and output could take on new dimensions. that would really be something. being 'droppable' could be the best thing that could have happened for him.
thoughts?

Its just crazy how people are calling for his head on the back of ONE game! RVP or no RVP, Wayne Rooney remains the single most important member of our squad. And I think Old Trafford understands that. You only had to hear the noise in the stadium when he got off the bench to warm up yesterday. The only ones doing the shit stirring are the media and this Neil Cunt guy in particular. Any background info on him (apart from the fact he writes for the worst possible excuse for a tabloid)?
On Sir Alex's notes - From what I read on various websites he said the club would help move on any player who fell out of love with us. I think he was either referring to Berba or Nani. Most likely the former.

^^ This is truth. Rooney seems to always rise to a challenge when faced with one this would not be first time ? Seems to thrive off it

Any background info on him (apart from the fact he writes for the worst possible excuse for a tabloid)? there are two custis's at the bun. brothers i assume. one, [and i think it's neil] is a fucking ABU who puts a negative spin on everything. the other, sean, is a bit pro-United. this is just the impression i got over reading that rag semi-regularly for a few years.

I personally feel he has to prove himself again, Since that disasterous world cup in 2010 and all that crap about his life he's be a shadow of himself. He's missing that xfactor he once had, maybe he's just burnt out. I think fergie is losing faith in him also.

Thanks Jimbo. Well, he's certainly getting people to take notice. I guess that's what his job description requires of him. I'd liken him to Rebecca Black - achieving fame through pointlessness.

Rooney is back from hospital!!
Well, I guess he being dropped on bench, RvP-Kagawa partnership yesterday and then Wayne's injury was perfect fodder for Media to cook bullshit. Did you notice how journalists were jumping guns and drawing stupid conclusions? Some idiot on f365 wrote that because now there is an 'expert' player in every position at United, he doesn't fit.

The Rooney we signed is a complete different person to the Rooney who plays for us now. I'm not sure that it's been a good 'growing up' to be honest. He's regressed as a footballer, improved as a finisher, but lost a lot of the exuberence that made him so easy to like.
He does look jaded with the game at times, the fire and enthusiasm he played with when he was younger looks like it has been replaced with genuine anger and pent-up frustration. Maybe he's been under too much pressure to be the entire talisman and back-bone for us in recent seasons without Ronaldo to share the burden. Hopefully van Persie can come in and be another talisman, take some of the glare off Wayne for a bit.
Unfortunately, the thing that sticks in my mind is the way he celebrated the overhead kick against city a couple of seasons ago. It was horribly arrogant considering what had gone on earlier in the season. Yes, I then think of good performances since, and the goal in the European Cup final, but my being pretty disgusted at him in that moment is the one that comes first to my mind.

Agreed with you there Bestie, he seems to have lost that youthful exuberance and genuine enthusiasm about the game. He's not showing off anymore, rarely tries anything audacious, it seems like he's very jaded. I suppose you have to remember that he's been playing pretty much regular first team football since he was 16 and for how many years now has he been the talisman of United? Not to mention the main-man for England too. Then there's all the shit that has gone on in his non-footballing life over the years and just generally having been under the media spotlight since the age of 16, constantly flaunted as the big hope for England, the saviour, the best English player for decades. I don't know about anyone else but after years of that I'd be mentally exhausted.

Cheers lads.
Personally, I'm half hoping that Rooney will be out for three or four weeks, but we can win our games by 2 or 3, with van Persie scoring freely. Maybe then the media will be busy fawning over RvP and our recovery after a disastrous start away to Everton, and Rooney can have a genuine break. Even if it is only a short one. Just so there is marginally less hype, although when are the England qualifiers?
Of course, we could go the next few weeks without him and look laboured, as usual, which means all the media will be talking about is Rooney being missing, he needs to come back, hype, hype, hype.

Personally, I wouldn't be too bothered if we sold Rooney. I think, in Kagawa, we've found someone we can build a team around, add to that the emerging talents of Cleverley, Welbeck and Hernandez plus the signing of a top class player we've all been screaming out for, would it be such a big loss?
EDIT:
I'm not calling for his head. I'm just thinking out loud that if we were to be offered £50mill+ for him, and we did sell, it wouldn't be the big loss it would've been 2 years ago when he held the club to ransom.

Talking to a few boys yesterday about this.
Rooney always seems to have a slow or stuttered start to the season anyway. I remember a few years back he was slated then he scored a hat trick against Bolton and went on a good run. Does my head in when the "get rid of him" band wagon gets going (not saying this is the case on here but it is out and about). He was the 2nd highest goalscorer in the league last year, fuck me what do people want from him. He gives 110% in the united shirt, does this mean hes not allowed an off day? course it does. Yes he had a poor game against Everton but to ask for his head after that game is ridiculous.
Some united fans expect too much, if not they expect us to win 38/38 otherwise players should go. Nani, Wazza, Young, Anderson. All of these have been exiled to the back door list. Rooney may have made a monumental fuck up a few years back with his ransom dealings but hes given his all every week, whether hes good or bad and its still not fucking good enough for some people. How about they have a bit of faith in him because we all know hell come good again when he comes back. Instead of critising the boy get behind him and the team.
Failing that fuck off and support someone else.

Like Tatty, I wouldn't mind letting Rooney go if we are offered anything above £60mil. With all the money bandying about, I'm sure one of the silly clubs can cough up that amount.
But far from actually wanting him to go, I'm ok / happy if he's out for 4 weeks, if only to see whether our team can play better without him.
