Yes Times change so quickly. When he was with Inter, he was not ready for a pay-cut, but now it seems he is we're still desperate.

£20m cheaper than 2 years ago. Would be worth a punt now I reckon given our misgivings in midfield! If he really wants to come and would get his arse in gear for us then definitely worth a punt. At 29 we could still get a good 2 years out of him - he could help with the education of our younger mids and he is a lot better than most of what we currently put out every week (and he isn't 40!)

No thanks! He MIGHT do a job for a year/two but he would be an excuse not to buy a midfielder we want for another couple of years.
Also does anyone watch him these days - I doubt he is near his 2010 form...

It may be that we already have the midfielder(s) we need within the club in the younger players. If you look at what could come through, Pearson, Powell, Ekangamene etc. then it might be ideal timing with Wes - as I said he could help bring them through and we could have a really decent, home grown midfield...so much better IMO than buying in a bunch of mercenaries...

How many years have we been expecting/hoping that one of our youngsters would get a chance in midfield (Pogba, Tunniclife, Morrison, Petrucci) and we still don't see any improvement. Plus with the present midfield that needs a thorough revamp (Giggs & Ando out, Carrick not beeing a spring chicken, Jones ultimately becoming CB, Fletch with question marks) we can easily buy what we need AND introduce our youth at the same time. Don't see what Sneijder brings - apart from pushing the problem two years down the road, while I also doubt he would perform like in his peak years.

The point is that they DIDN'T get played so how will we ever know how they might have turned out? I take your point about the clearout but really we have Powell who is ready NOW, you could try the others and see how they fare..I mean how old is Barkley and many here rave about him? I say let's have some faith in what we are producing and give them a go. They can hardly do much worse than what we have there now....

If nothing else Wesley would surely mean no Giggs in the middle again.
I'd go 10 mill for that.

well I agree completely - give youngsters a try NOW, we could at least see the progress in the right direction. I am just saying I don't see the need for Sneijder, if we are buying let's do it right and buy a proper midfielder - he isn't gonna block the youngsters, because our best midfielder Carrick (along with deadwood and retirees) will need to be replaced in time too.

Yeah didnt he and RvP fall out over a free kick or something ? That's minor really, whatever the disagreement. If Sneijder arrives i'm sure him and van Persie will be big boys and get on with it.

8 mill. Could be an inspired signing. Forget looking 6 years down the track. Here and now sneider improves us end of story.

The price seems to be going down with each post. From £25m a year ago, down to £15m rumour last few weeks and then £10m and now £8m?
£8m for a Creative Dutch International MIDFIELDER. Even if he was 30 years old, I'd say yes. Put him on the bench, whatever. £8m. Steal.

Quality has he is and may do us good for another 3 years or so shouldn't we be looking at those who can do a job for more than 2 years. We buy him it'd mean that we most likely won't do so for another 4-5 years clinging and hoping our MF can do it while every other team snaps up good talent. Lets just pass up
