Agree 100% he hasn't lived up to the potential he undoubtedly has. However I still think he paid his transfer fee back in buckets and I for one wont be wishing him out the door this summer although it seems increasingly likely he will leave.
I would love to see Wazza in an out and out CM role. Give him 10 games in there to see if he can cut it. In fact if we have an dead rubber league games towards the end of the season Fergie would be nuts not to try him out here.

One thing, if, and I mean if, he goes we cannot sell him to an English club. Suicide. Also, figures of 20 million being mentioned by the papers- Torres? Carroll? The fuck?!!

Personally, if we had any dead rubber games, I'd prefer to see Nick Powell getting a go. He's doing pretty well for the U21s and I think deserves another go in the first team. It would be great experience for him and set him up for next season. As for Wazza...I think he has been great for us but as others have said, is this as good as he's going to get? Did he reach what was thought to be his potential? Also, if not, were we (United) in any way to blame for him not developing as everyone thought he would?

I think he has a fine mentality on the pitch, but off it he isn't professional enough. Could be what jim is getting at? Seems the case. It's down to him at the end of the day if he chooses to drink and smoke and then role back up for training over weight.

What I don't get is, Giggs has been there the entire time Rooney has. How was Wayne not twigged to a good idea yet?

If you read the other half of the response, you will see what I think as Rooney's best attributes. Can't agree about his first touch, speed and dribbling though - I'm not saying he's shite at it - he is good at it, but isn't excellent to be honest. i read it all don't worry. i'm not saying he's got an exceptional touch or dribbling skills, just that they aren't a default weakness of his IMO, his lack of touch is a symptom of of poor form. i actually think his biggest problem when he's out of form is his passing which gets either mis-hit or intercepted. I think he has a fine mentality on the pitch, but off it he isn't professional enough. Could be what jim is getting at? pretty much yeah. saying that though, i do think there's increasingly a problem mentally on the pitch as well, as he hit his 20's and started taking on more responsibility i thought he started losing something. he doesn't strike me as relishing being one of if not the best player on the pitch, he doesn't seem to strive to own the game like other top players do. i think he's too modest in his attitude and self-belief. i'd swap a bit of his team ethic and unselfishness in return for unwaivering belief and that bit of edge he had as a teenager when he played with little responsibility. it worried me when he was so content to stroll around midfield and ping balls around when fergie asked him to play there. a player of his quality shouldn't be so persuadable to play like a water carrier for the big boys. can you imagine the response you'd get from ronaldo, messi, van persie etc if they were asked to do the dishes for someone else? they wouldn't fucking have it. it's an endearing quality of waynes but i think it hurts him.

Since roondog stopped shagging auld ones he has declined. If he followed Giggsy's lead on and off the pitch he might be better off

It boils down to the media sticking their oar in.
If Rooney isn't getting a perfect 10 for every game or scoring 2 or more goals a game or doesn't start then he's off. It's laughable that people believe all the shite that they print. He'll be in the same jersey next season, the same as all the rumours.
Week 1 - He scores for United and get MOTM - He's world class. Week 2 - He scores for England and get the winning goal - World class. Week 3 - He start on the bench - OMG what is going on he must be unhappy now, time to leave.
Its fucking ridiculous.

A few years ago, we weren't good enough for Rooney. Now the question is; Is he good enough for us?

His form since 2010 world cup has been very average and I think its the right time to cash in. Personally I think he needs a change of scenery because he's clearly stagnated the last few years. He always looks heavy these days which is unforgiveable for a professional who trains every day, this in my opinion is why he can't sustain form for a whole season. The likes of ronaldo is not only a great player but a great athlete. Fergie leaving him out of our starting 11 was a clear sign from the manager that he's not indespensible anymore and you couldn't argue with his decision. Its not an overreaction from me because he missed one game because I believe any manager won't leave his top players out of the side for tactical reasons. Get the 20 or 30 million and we can reinvest it elsewhere instead of paying him a fortune for very little in return.
