At least those of us who back Tom CleverlEy know how to spell his damn name. Least it's not as bad as slating a player and not even knowing what the player looks like.

Cleverley is a good player. If he'd started the derby we'd have had a better chance. He uses the ball well and doesn't do anything stupid. Nothing flashy, but he's effective.

Clevs , to me is in the exact spot where its Damn if he did and Damned if he didn't.
Fans want to see Clevs now dominating the Midfield and running rings around players and doing the scholesesque passes ( i cringe everytime i hear that someone is the next this or that btw) and all that.
If he had done that and we ended up losing then people will all over him saying he is thinking too much of himself or has his heads in the cloud and all that. Since we are getting stuffed and CLevs mostly is doing the basics right - simply cos if he did all those flashy stuff and went upfield it would leave us with only Carrick and our defense quite open.
He is doing what is needed. His play when he is paired with Ando or Jones or Wilshere is quite different to when he is paired with Carrick. Been saying that enough. some will never like him and will always insist he is far worse being in the team now than say Giggs or Young or at times Paddy or Rio.
How Long was it before people warmed up to Fletcher, Evans ,Carrick again ?

I will freely admit I've been disappointed in Clevs lack of real 'super-progress' in the last 12 months, but the there are some mitigating factors like the fact he played about 50 times last season in what was his first full, injury-free campaign. It's also gotten to the stage that considering we can't get the best out of Kagawa, I'm starting to think we have a universal blank spot as to how to most effectively use good midfielders. Carrick managed it by being so imperiously good last term that he transcended tactics.

WE haven't used Ando they way he should or was used in his old club. We don't use Kags the way he was , i think Midfield is made to look like players there are to be workhorses type , from one end to another , tackle, disrupt and push to wings. Maybe wrong here and i hope to God that we actually have or will use different formations and tactics and players to their strengths but so far our experimenting has been little. Now,I get that in today's competitive scenario that could be taxing , maybe whole-some changes surely not lil tweaking. Fergie himself acknowledged that adaptation is necessary to survive and i am pretty sure that its in bold letters in the dandy hand book of his which we are still using. Carrick , Scholes are expections and not the norm. Perhaps why Pogba or Jani can't get into the side or a new contract ( runs for cover having mentioned Pog's name)

Fuck off Martinez. Moyes is gone, my good faith towards Martinez pointing out the flaws in the 'empty inheritance argument' is gone too.
A good manager could get Cleverley up another level with the improved midfielders around him.

Van Gaal is known to give chance to youth and under performing players before dipping into the market. Clevs could be the biggest beneficiary and hope we see the form he showed in 2011 b4 injury. Davies you cunt

Just read on sky sports that Martinez is going to put a 8 million pound bid for Cleverley. Interesting situations, Cleverley was pretty good under Martinez while at Wigans, should he stay and see what a proper manager can do for Cleverley or just collect the 8 million and move on? If Klopp or van Gaal can teach Cleverley how to dribble then I think he might be worth another look. He just has not been the same player since his ankle injury. Agree whole heartedly that Cleverley needs to beat his man and he will be able to dictate play with all that space.

Cleverley needs time and a good manager to play him in a role that benefits him alongside top midfielders. He needs the best to grow. It doesn't help that United fans are berating him.
