When he 1st broke into the team everyone was claiming this guy is going to replace Paul Scholes. But for me is way of the level to be playing for Manchester United. I simply do not see what he offers to the team.
He doesn't score goals, He doesn't great assists?
Last weekend against Liverpool was crystal clear for me he is not good enough. I lost couple the amount of times he give away the ball cheap. Knocked of the ball to easily. Henderson and Lucas bullied him. Then one i put the point up on Twitter. I got some United fans saying "He was our best player against Chelsea". By doing what? passing the ball back and forward to Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic? please.
Thoughts on him?

So it's pointless Cleverley bashing today is it?
Nice to see you have moved on from Moyes at least.

He wasn't good against Chelsea. My thoughts are he's not good enough for the big games. He hasn't taken that next step up yet but he is a good squad player and United through and through. Players quite of do have a sudden jump in quality so he should stay and fight it out.

Cleverley's good enough for us, but needs to find another level to be a first choice. Also we need to play the right style for him. He ain't Scholes, who'd collect the ball then ping it 50/60 yards pin-point to a wingers toe all the time. He's better off when there more movement around him, especially ahead of him. I remember him saying last year how natural it was to play with Kagawa.

What are your thoughts on Fellaini? Would not been my ideal signing at the start of the summer. When we were being linked to Thiago and Fabregas. I don't understand why waited so long to buy him. I don't think its a signing that's going to get too many fans out there seats tbh. But he will bring something to our midfield which we haven't had in a while. Someone who is not afraid to put a tackle in. He will be a threat from set pieces if we get the right delivery's into him. The fee was a lot of money Everton will be glad with the business they have done this season. I would rather have Fellaini than Cleverley anyway.

Personally I don't think Cleverly is good enough for us. He has tried his best and I will never ever fault him for effort or commitment. He seems like a nice lad that causes no trouble so my view on him is in no way personal. For us to get back to winning CL's we just have to have better players in our engine room.
Fellaini excites me I have to say. He is a powerful presence in CM and I think it is long overdue. As poor as this window has been on the transfer front we have come out the other side of it a stronger team. It could have been better but what excites me most is the fact our new manager has identified CM straight away as the position that needs immediate strengthening.
Clevers should not be sold or discounted just yet but he must earn a place in the team now amongst growing competition.

Midfielders are all about goals and assists and nothing else, obviously.

The level of fucking lunacy on this board since last season ended and right through the summer has reached a new level. Was hoping with the new season it would have quietened down a bit fuck was I wrong.
Fucking hell.

Midfielders are all about goals and assists and nothing else, obviously. A deep lying midfielder is supposed to be a source of goals and assists and an attacking winger is supposed to be a source of defensive stability according to this board.

It's hardly lunacy saying Tom Cleverley isn't good enough to start for United in fairness.

It's hardly lunacy saying Tom Cleverley isn't good enough to start for United in fairness. If you have a good reason to back it up then fine but he's clearly being used as a scapegoat. How in fucking Zeus can you possibly single out Clevs against the scousers when the whole team was shit, nobody passed the ball backwards or lost it more than Giggs, but are people getting on his back? Others are saying he's not good enough because he doesnt score enough. So yes it's complete lunacy. He's been quoted as the next Scholes people say, Perhaps its the fact he's only 24 or that this is his 2nd season in the 1st team, give the lad a break, albeit suffering from injuries last season and being left out of the side I think he's done a good job. Funny how Clevs, DDG, Rafael and Valencia have all seemed to have had way more shit than the players that have had ample time to prove their worth.

Fair Enough Paul. Many players were off the mark in that game and to target Clevs (only) would be unjust. But, it seems the weight of expectations and Scholes comparison are weighing him down. There are 2 types of players: 1) Gifted / Talented 2) Hardworking / Industrious. We cant expect all players to have right balance of both qualities. Lets give him a fair run, hope he remains injury free & only then evaluate him. Maybe he is not among the Top 25 midfielders in the world, but he is in the Top-3 we have.
However, would like to see Clevs have the same impact on games as Wilshere has for the Gunners.
