What are your thoughts? Great player but not his old self in the last couple of seasons, is it the right decision? LVG must have his eye on another forward.

I am not really sure. A fit RvP will definitely fire. Last season he was affected by the long stay at the wc. Didn't really get a much rest. And the season before he started well, but the Moyes effect sunk in. Beside, if we negotiate for a new striker after selling him, the selling club will know that we have to get one quality striker desperately and will ask top dollar for it.

3rd option, or 4th option for the poll "Yes, IF we sign a replacement"

I genuinely loved it when we bought him. I remember floating on cloud 9 for about 2 weeks after. He even fit in like a glove!
Maybe he lost interest when Fergie left but it was plain as day he was unhappy under Moyes, then for whatever reasons he just couldn't fit into LVGS formations.
I'm sad to see him go, but I think it's for the best

Obvious physical decline plus huge wages off the bill. He never got over SAF retiring which was kinda understandable under DD but no excuses for last season.
I will fondly remember his winner against shitty and a few sublime goals capped by that hat-trick against Villa that clinched No 20..
It's for the best and have no doubts that a striker is incoming.

Thank you for helping Sir Alex get that final title.
Done nothing since then though and those legs have lost a step . Turkey will be a good fit for him.

Oh it was glorious I genuinely reckon coming in after a WC season didn't help. No real recovery period for an elder statesman

He will probably now go and prove me wrong and be in contention for the golden boot

This wasn't bad though eh? Fucking hell some people on here think he's turned into candyman heskey...
Thank you RvP, for making it twenty and putting a smile I'll never forget on fergies face.

I will always be thankful to RvP for 2012/13. However, he suffered with Fergie's retirement and so did his football, the last two seasons weren't good for him. It was the right decision, Robin wants to be a starter and Fenerbahçe can offer him that, I wish him the best at Turkey. Great guy, but it was time to say goodbye and give United some fresh air at the attack.

I'm really fond of him as a person, seems like a great guy to have around the squad, but I don't think anyone can deny he's in decline. 31 isn't past it of course but you're not going to improve or be as good as you were 2-3 years ago, and that is exacerbated by his history of injuries, which will have taken their toll. With LvG preferring to play with a lone striker (Rooney) it's not going to do Robin any good, he needs weekly games to see out his career, not sporadic first-team appearances. He's not the main man at United anymore and a move to Turkey would give him that status again and I reckon they'll get a solid couple of seasons from him.
I'll be really sad to see him go but I think it's best for both parties.

I agree. I think he got our club, and will go on to be associated with us more than Arsenal. He has shown nothing but fondness for us and I really hope whatever the outcome, he has a fantastic ending to his career. I will never forget that Sprint towards fergie and the embrace that followed. Oh Robin van Persie. Cheers fella.
