Exactly. How does a professional footballer end up with a yellow card in this situation? Literally 4 good options ahead of him and none of them really a difficult ball. It beggars belief. And to be honest, the only reason it stands out is because he should have been sent off. I’m sure there were countless others during the 90 minutes. That first pass from Fred is a typical example of zero standards, just a lack of concentration and appreciation for his team mates, instead of a nice sharp pass he just strokes the ball behind maguire. Roy Keane used to pull the head off players for that kind of thing. It's a small thing but makes a big difference to the tempo of a game. Maguire should have been going through Fred for that. Absolutely nothing.

Guys at work today couldn't even be arsed taking the piss. I detest what we have become.

Haven’t been able to face this thread. I was unfortunately at the game on Sunday. I’ve genuinely never seen OT so resigned to its fate on the first game of the season. Even last year we started ok then had the hype around Ronaldo etc. Was fucking depressing and by the end i was just mad. Why bother spending the money for tickets, train, beer etc when no one in the club gives a fuck?

His awareness off the pitch is something aswell That’s the first time we’ve stood on that side no? Because of the dugout switch?

I know there's a massive cloud surrounding transfers at the club this summer, but having had time to reflect on the result this is a massively disappointing first impression of Ten Hag's team. This was Brighton, at home.
We're well short in midfield, and up front, but I'm not sure I expected us to look this bad after a mostly positive pre-season.
Keen to see Garnacho get some minutes, I'm sure he'll add some impetus to this impotent mess.

Regrettably,I think Brighton was a true reflection of what Ralf said 8,9 or 10 players needed, three signed one of which didn't start. Ability wise & with their confidence shot there are clearly players who have to moved on.

It might as well have been ole in the dugout, new manager in and not one of those players looked like they gave a fuck still, and even more so because we havnt improved the squad, they don't need to give a fuck because nobody is going to take there place.

9 of the 11 players starting were regular starters last season. So goes to show that Ralf was totally right about open heart surgery and totally overhauling the squad. Ancelotti didn't get very far with Everton despite being one of the best coaches in the game. It took Klopp several transfer windows before he assembled a team he could win stuff with and they had one of the best recruitment teams in the business. Obviously Pep gets to buy pretty much whoever he wants. So it is a fantasy to think that Erik's tactical acumen and coaching abilities will be enough to change our fortunes.

Christ, just watching a report on SSN, re the game v Brentford later on. They’ve just stuck the game v BHA on over the top of it. Christ, it looks even worse a week on!
