2 and a half weeks to come to a decision. Bunch of amateurs. What’s amateur? The reporters are the only amateurs here. They all reported he was getting sacked and we were bringing in xyz. Now we are being told by the most credible reporter he is staying and a new contract will be negotiated. The fact a contract will be negotiated tells me he was never close to being sacked and can’t remember which journalist called it but they said highly likely that ETH is speaking to the club about relinquishing the transfer power he has. |

All lies I suppose? 🧐 It's probably been done to shut the media up because every shite journo is pedalling more and more bullshit. Either way it's done. Think it's the right decision to keep him on. None of those linked fill me with any confidence that they're an upgrade. Wouldn't be doing anything until at least Christmas in terms of contracts though. We need to see what improvements are made first. We need to see a lot of things change and more importantly how much backing this new structure will give. The safety net has gone now, no more fuck ups. Glad it's all been announced anyway, now for what will hopefully be a much needed, big summer window. |

Well it’s not southgate, not sure who else (seriously) better could have been tapped up.
I am in the out camp but he semi deserved it with two trophies in two years. Sigh

It would be hilarious (and brilliant) if it turns out that they created those Southgate rumors only to make us all want Erik to stay another season and feel relieved with that outcome.

If I were Ineos I wouldn’t even be thinking about contract extensions until Christmas.
If it goes tits up again and we are languishing in 8th place in November we can pull the trigger with not much compensation to shell out.

Apparently there's a year option that can be triggered on the existing contract, if all goes well by Christmas trigger that and say we'll talk at the end of the season, don't be giving extensions out now |

I changed my mind and wanted him to stay this season but a contract extension right now would be really dumb. He should be told that this is his last chance if anything. The F.A Cup win was nice but performances on the whole weren't anywhere near good enough and if we've not improved 15 or so games into next season they should be looking to pull the plug.

Had a feeling they weren't going to sack him all along, these pricks in the media just make stuff up i'm sure, supposed to be sacked wasn't he straight after the final win or lose, they love to create hysteria around United as we know!
Correct decision i think to give him another year, think he's got big plans for some of the youngsters coming through and i'd like to see that come to fruition but we still obviously need to strengthen with new signings and hopefully he's learnt some massive lessons from last season.
