I'm hoping that maybe with the little disturbances lille may get thrown out the CL. therefore one less game to be played in the next 14 days.

omg what a a match omg lille fans cant take defeat can they Its the french way (Wenger). Not the best performance by the lads, but we got the result. In these kind of games you have to grind out results which we did. No controversy for our goal (remember Henry vs Chelsea) and for me the Lille 'goal' could of gone either way. Hopefully now, we can finish the job at O.T and book a place in the next round. On another subject, Im relieved to hear that there are no serious injury's for our fans in the stands at Lille.

Ronaldo seemed pretty pissed off when he got subbed. I know he should accept it because its for the good of the team, but I hope incidents like these don't force him away from the club. Does anyone know if he celebrated the goal? No ... I totally disagree with you... If he plays piss poor, wasting possesion and not tracking back, he gets taken off ... simple as... hes not above the team.. play poor come off and he should no this! exactly coogie ! i also take it you watched the match on rte2

DISCUSTING! behaviour by lille fans/staff/players and the police! united fans were scared that they were going to be crushed so they climbed the barrier to save themselves and all the police thought was "oh no english hooligans let crack their skulls" sorry for swearing but it was fucking discusting! also their "goal" was rightly disallowed and giggs did nothing wrong he asked the ref if he could take it and no lille players were standing in front of the ball to stop the freekick from being taken so its tough luck on them thats what experiance is all about well done giggsy! and after their behaviour fuck em and lets stuff them at old trafford thats if they dont get kicked out. #furious#
sorry for the language its just that i am passionate about my team!
LILLE tut tut #shakehead#

Makoun seemed to make them tick a lot of the time, lying deep and constantly picking out balls, was a bit disappointed Fergie didn't take him out of it by putting Rooney or Larsson in his space

I just saw a rough sum-up of the game on the telly! It didn't look too bad there! Rooney, Ronaldo, Larsson and Giggs should all have scored on a perfect day before the 0:1!
The comment was that the Ref did everything ok, with the foul on Vida. As for our goal the Ref didn't have to blow his whistle because United didn't call for the correct distance! Everything's fine. The troubles weren't mentioned so Uefa will probably do bugger all!
Giggs is a bloody rascal ;D ;D ;D ;D

thing that's pissing me off is my "french" friends are going on about how it was a dirty and low way to score a goal and so on ... and i keep telling them it's their french "king" (coughs) that does that on a very regular basis ... they're extremely biased... and even worse are the french tv programmes that they watch which are even more biased... who cares.. 1 - 0 ... and they're gonna learn a footballing lesson at O.T ...

Ferguson fumes at Lille antics
Sir Alex Ferguson barely looked like the winning boss on Tuesday night - such was his anger at the actions of the Lille players and staff.
The French club threatened to boycott the remaining seven minutes after Ryan Giggs scored the only goal direct from a free-kick. Lille claimed the goal wasn't legitimate because the Dutch referee hadn't blown his whistle.
Speaking just moments after the final whistle, Sir Alex told ITV Sport: "I think UEFA have got to take some action, I've never in my life seen anything like that. It'll maybe take an hour to digest it exactly, but I can't understand it.
"It was complete intimidation of the referee. UEFA's got to do something about that. It's a disgrace, what we've seen tonight. That's not football.
"The Lille staff encouraged their players to come off the pitch. It's intimidation of the referee and it's made for a hostile atmosphere inside the ground. I think it's a disgrace.
"UEFA will come down strongly, they'll have to because you can't tolerate that. I was worried because there were missiles being thrown from the stands as you saw. I think Gary Neville was hit by something. They were throwing stuff at our staff. That created a hostile atmosphere."
Sir Alex seemed to be angry with some of his own players, especially the captain Neville, as the Lille team tried to walk off. He explained why in his post-match interview:
"I wanted to keep our players on the pitch and away from it (the debate). It wasn't our concern. It was for the referee and the fourth official to decide what to do. I wanted our players to stay on the pitch but instead they started milling around with their players. We don't want that."

Lille's version of events: "It's incomprehensible. We wanted to place the reserves (substitutes), of course the referee didn't want to," Puel told French television. "He didn't find a delegate (official) either on the bench." Lille almost walked off in protest at the decision, with captain Gregory Tafforeau also critical of the official for allowing the quick free-kick to stand. Tafforeau said: "When the goalkeeper asks to place his wall, you should wait for the referee's whistle. "There was no whistle at all and the player shot directly. The result is (a) goal." The French side also had a goal disallowed, after Peter Odemwingie was adjudged to have pushed Nemanja Vidic and Puel was upset to see his striker penalised. He added: "The defender is beaten, he's touched a bit and plays for the foul. "We played a great second half and shook up this great team. We had the better chances. "I'm proud of my players. They showed we're not here by chance." -------------------- The only chances they had were from one or two of our mistakes, and only small chances, we had about 5 one on one's and missed them all! If he watched the replay Vidic couldn't stay on his feet if he tried, and he did try. I honestly believe Lille stayed on the pitch after they saw Fergie screaming at Nev, wouldn't blame them either the way he looked
